Tinnitus getting worse

It’s pretty loud now, and lower pitched meaning that my high frequency hearing loss is creeping downwards. In both ears. I attended my niece’s school play last night, and had trouble following a lot of the dialogue because I couldn’t hear the consonants. I’ve got to find a way of slowing down this deterioration. The ENT specialists are all shrugging their shoulders and saying that they haven’t a clue why my hearing loss has accelerated in the last few years.

  1. Sorry to learn about your hearing condition. Hope you will find a doctor who can identify and arrest the decline in your hearing abilities.

  2. Thanks for your kind thoughts Val.

I’ve had tinnitus and high-frequency hearing loss for the past 28 years. It has accelerated in the last couple of years, and was one of the factors that pushed me to get the Omega.

I’ve been for nerve impulse tests and MRI scans to look for tumours on the auditory nerves, etc etc. Cost a fortune, but nobody knows what’s causing the problem. It is irreversible so its a matter of learning to live with it.

  3. I’ve been thinking about it. Worth a try I guess. I’ve done some research on the web, at tinnitus support forums and medical info web sites, some people (even in the West) have tried things like acupuncture with inconclusive results.

  4. Bad things don’t have to be always bad.. I learnt this again from you. I believe your great interest and talent will give you a stength to get over the difficulty. June

  5. Thanks June. Well, my hearing loss and the other health scare pushed me into buying the Omega, something that I might not otherwise have done!

I hope that you are seriously thinking of starting to play the piano again. You don’t have to be good. All you have to do is to enjoy the journey! Maybe others in the Seoul office might get interested too eh! 🙂

  6. Guess what, I didn’t know there is a small institute near our office that I can take a lesson and practice the piano. Now I’m thinking how I can squeeze my time to do this. Yes, it’s a matter of your willingness.. ^^
